Poetry for the Hard of Hearing

I’m not proud
such an attitude is out of my budget
it’s costly to keep and maintain

no, like most nuts with a pen I depend
on the kindness of others
those who seek to find a voice and a word
where they might not otherwise

I’m not above requesting contributions from
my patrons, you’re hiring a madman to write
his insides out
that fire takes fuel and I require the best
I don’t mind a steak and fancy wine
but to treat me right it’s slow burning sipping whiskey
and green bud, sticky for a one hit bong
smoky blues from billie holiday and a night of one of a
kind wonderment

so to you that read and ponder the strangeness of Johnny
I respectfully say treat me nice and send a bottle or two
let me taste your appreciation , I’m ready to revel in it
all

but there’s no promises--I still might puke on you.

I like this one Johnny,
It made me chuckle when I got to the last line.
I have the Makers Mark here but you'll have to come here to Texas to get some.

pour it slow and sit it down soft--try not to disturb it much, I'll be right there...
